Founded
in 1989, Palais Dance Studio is known for high standards and the
good results our pupils achieve in their annual external examinations.
We operate as a private ballet school, offering quality classical
ballet and dance training, in an environment that encourages learning
and progress.
We conduct a wide range
of ballet and dance classes from Beginner to Vocational ( pre-professional
) levels, in a custom-built dance studio with imported Aerofloor
‘sprung’ dance floor with a new dance mat surface, and
wall-to-wall barres and mirrors. Besides our unique Beginner Ballet
programme for children in pre-school & kindergarten, we offer
the Royal Academy of Dance ( RAD ) Ballet Graded & Vocational
Graded syllabus classes.
Some alumni of Palais
Dance Studio are pursuing professional careers in ballet and dance,
and making a mark for themselves in their respective fields. Our
Vice-Principal, Miss Teo Ching Ching, is a RAD Examiner, and is
the first Singaporean to hold this appointment. She was appointed
as the first RAD Practical Teaching Supervisor in Singapore, in
2001.
Miss Vanessa Dewi Harijanto
was awarded Honours or Distinction for all RAD Grades examinations
from Primary through to Grade 8 Award. Under our Principal Ms. Tan
Eng Ai's mentorship, she completed the university validated RAD
Certificate of Higher Education : Dance Teaching programme, and
is a RAD Registered Teacher. Miss Rosanne Chong was part of Batucadas,
the dance group that emerged as Top 9 Finalists in MediaCorp’s
“The Dancefloor” competition on Channel 5. Miss Chong
was a ballet pupil at our school from kindergarten to completion
of her RAD Teaching Certificate qualification.
Palais Dance Studio has
mounted numerous dance concerts featuring our pupils. Proceeds of
our school concerts ( 1991, 1994, 2001 and 2004 ) were donated to
charity. Selected pupils have also gained further exposure through
special projects, such as being featured in a trailer on CHANNEL
NEWSASIA ( 2000 ), performing the “Barbie in the Nutcracker”
Ballet ( 2001 ) that was commissioned by Mattel, and dancing at
the semi-finals and finals of the "Baby Bonanza" ( 2006
) competition at the invitation of MediaCorp Channel 8.
