The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is an international teacher education and awarding body for Classical Ballet. It was established in 1920 with the aim of developing and maintaining the highest possible standard of teaching ( courtesy of Royal Academy of Dance ).

We offer all levels of RAD Grades and Higher Grades Ballet syllabus classes. Our top pupils have achieved perfect scores of 100% in these exams. We also consistently achieve 100% Passes every year.

Attended by pupils who have undergone substantial training, the RAD Vocational Grades offer a greater challenge for pre-professionals, and pave the way for a possible career in dance and related fields. Pointe work is a prominent feature of the girls' syllabus, while male pupils build on their virtuosity especially in pirouettes ( turns ) and allegro ( jumps.)

The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing ( ISTD ) is the world's leading dance examinations board. Formed in 1904 it is today a registered educational charity and is the only organisation that covers the full spectrum of dance examinations on a truly global scale ( courtesy of Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing ).

The ISTD Modern Dance syllabus incorporates elements of jazz and contemporary dance, and includes the learning of rhythm, good posture and the development of style & self-confidence. Our modern dance pupils have done well in the ISTD Examinations, and have opportunities to perform in our school concerts.

Pupils attending the ISTD Tap Dance classes have fun developing rhythm, co-ordination, style and panache, while improving on their posture, stamina & self-discipline.

Children are accepted from 6+ and above for ISTD Modern and Tap Dance classes. Please call or email to enquire.

In our 2001 and 2004 School Concerts, selected senior ballet pupils were coached by Miss Teo Ching Ching to perform flamenco dance items. Trained by professional dancers in Los Angeles and Granada, Miss Teo choreographed the 1998 and 2002 productions of "Carmen" by the Singapore Lyric Opera.

3 of our senior female dancers and 4 guest male dancers joined our Vice-Principal Miss Teo Ching Ching in "The Merry Widow" operatta, which was staged at the University Cultural Centre in September 2004. His Excellency, President S R Nathan, was the Guest of Honour for this production by the Singapore Lyric Opera. This was Miss Teo's 3rd collaboration with Singapore only professional western opera company.

In 2007, Miss Teo coached MediaCorp star Fann Wong for her ballet scene in the "Dance of the Dragon" movie. Miss Teo has also coached Melvin & Sharon, who emerged as finalists in The DanceFloor competition on MediaCorp Channel 5.
